Externally Controllable and Destructible Self-Replicating Loops

چکیده
Self-replicating loops presented to date are essentially worlds unto themselves, inaccessible to the observer once the replication process is launched. In this paper we present a self-replicating loop which allows for user interaction. Specifically, the user can control the loop’s replication and induce its destruction. After presenting the design of this novel loop, we delineate its physical implementation in our electronic wall, the e-wall.

Self-replicating Cellular Automata
Abstract In this paper, we present a possible implementation of arithmetic functions (notably, addition and multiplication) using self-replicating cellular automata. The operations are performed by storing a dedicated program (sequence of states) on self-replicating loops, and letting the loops retrieve the operands, exchange data among themselves, and perform the calculations according to a se...
متن کاملSpatial-Pattern-Induced Evolution of a Self-Replicating Loop Network
We study a system of self-replicating loops in which interaction rules between individuals allow competition that leads to the formation of a hypercycle-like network. The main feature of the model is the multiple layers of interaction between loops, which lead to both global spatial patterns and local replication. The network of loops manifests itself as a spiral structure from which new kinds ...
متن کاملSimulations of Self Replicating Loops
One describes how to create and simulate self-replicating loops in the context of cellular automata spaces and of reactive programming. Cell behaviors are programs instead of standard look-up tables. A destruction mechanism is implemented and walls are introduced in order to contain loops in closed areas.
متن کاملInteraction Based Evolution of Self-Replicating Loop Structures
We propose the ecosystem of self-replicating loops on CA by designing new rules for interactions between replicators. Here, the replicators interact with each other by forming a competition relationship (a hypercycle-like network). The spiral structure emerges in this model with in 5 species. This spiral pattern produces larger loops in the bounaries of species. Comparing with a single species ...

Self-replicating loops presented to date are usually worlds unto themselves, inaccessible to observer once the replication process is launched. In this paper we present a self-replicating loop which allows for user interaction. Specifically, the user can control the loop’s replication as well as the size of the replica. After presenting the design of this novel loop, we delineate its physical i...
